Turtle Dreams

By

This a a print I made of one of Alick Tipoti’s lino cuts when I facilitated on a workshop of his recently. I’d never really seen his work before, but when I did, I fell madly in love with it! Alick is an aboriginal artist from the Torres Strait.

He does the most magnificent wood carve or lino prints, sometimes as big as 6 meters in length. The images of sea creatures and people are stunning and seem to flow in the most beautiful rhythm of life. Do yourself a favor and do a Google image search on his name.

Alick exhibits and sells his work for tens & hundreds of thousands of dollars around the world, so I’m pretty chuffed to have one of his little turtle prints even though I didn’t get him to sign it. I wish I had millions of dollars to buy more of of his work:)
